HELLO!
My name is Sarah and I’m a passionate photographer.
On my website you can find a selection of my latest pictures and graphic design work.
Since spending a year abroad as part of my modern languages degree, I have enjoyed developing my photography skills as a way to document my travels and capture how I experience my surroundings. My photography currently focuses on three main themes: landscape, flowers (inspired by living in Holland for 4 years) and modern architecture, with a particular emphasis on colour, shape and perspective.
In 2011 while living in the heart of London’s financial district, I started a photography project inspired by one of London’s most striking and distinctive skyscrapers, 30 St. Mary Axe. More commonly known as ‘The Gherkin’, the building’s simple yet unique silhouette is instantly recognizable on the capital’s skyline. Covered in thousands of diamond and triangular shaped glass panels which reflect and interact with the surrounding buildings and landscape, this glittering skyscraper produces beautiful images composed of geometric patterns, architectural styles and varying colours from both up close and afar.
Since then I have built up a strong portfolio of architectural photographs and enjoy following how The Gherkin and other iconic London skyscrapers continue to inspire the city and its people in different ways.
Several of my photographs have been selected for competitions/blogs on The Times Online, Telegraph Online, Time Out blog, Archilovers website as well as various UK/US trade and investment publications.
